Scandalous Love

Luke 7:36-50
Do we recognize the amount of grace we've been given? If so, it should transform the way we love God
Since our sin is forgiven, let our love be scandalous...
1. Scandalous through degree (36-39)
• when we are overwhelmed with the love of God we need to be ready to respond appropriately
2. Scandalous by comparison (40-47)
• we all need Christ's forgiveness, no matter our standing
3. Scandalous in motive (48-50)
• there's nothing you can bring to Him where He won't forgive you

A Superior Power

Matthew 8:18-27
If we really understood the power and love of God towards us we'd all be unhindered in our devotion towards Christ. But our fears and worries get in the way because we forget the authority Jesus has over them.
Because Christ is superior we can have courage in ministry...
1. Courage to commit (18-22)
• when we commit to something we understand there will be a level of self-sacrifice involved (my time, money, energy, ingenuity)
• the most important thing we can commit to within our lives is spreading the message of salvation
2. Courage to go (23)
• the disciple has the courage to step off the shore and step into the boat because their Savior is there in that boat. We know even in the scary path that boat may take, we'll be safe and secure because our savior is with us
• what's your "boat?"
3. Courage to live (24-27)
• in our life there will be many times that we'll feel tempted to give up or let go, but we can find the courage to stay on in Christ
• fear comes in our disbelief

Many Will Come

Matthew 8:5-13
What kind of people would we claim to be our enemies? What people would we say are below us? Those are the people that harden our heart.
How would Jesus respond to the needs of those same people we claim to be our enemies?
How would imitating Jesus' response towards those we don't like effect our family? Our relationships? Our witness?
For us our struggle might not be waiting for the healing to come, it might be to live in the healing we've already received.
Jesus is waiting patiently for anyone anywhere to humble themselves before Him and direct any request toward Him
